Home buyers and sellers often come to the real estate agent first because they are the most well-known piece of the real estate puzzle. And while you are a vital part of the transaction, realtors must work with a variety of other industry professionals to make the home buy or sell happen. The realtor team will work together to ensure clients are successful and can happily move into their home.
Your clients will likely look to you for recommendations for the other key players. It’s important you vet out a great realtor team with supportive players by interviewing them and building a solid relationship over time with those you are confident will get the job done.
Every realtor team should include these seven people to help close deals because successful real estate professionals never go it alone.
Mortgage Loan Officer & Staff
Not only is it important to find a loan officer who will work hard to pre-qualify your clients, it’s also important you get to know the processor and closer. Your clients are counting on you to recommend someone who will have great turnaround times, loan programs, and excellent customer service.
Home inspections have the power to make or break a deal. Having a home inspector that is extremely thorough is important, but it is also important that they are personable, patient, and can explain things in plain language your clients will understand.
Not all sellers are keen on the idea of having their home staged before it’s been listed. Find a home stager who will provide different ‘levels’ of advice – from a few tips to a massive overhaul. Another person to add to this list might be a ‘De-Clutter Coach.’ Most homes have too much clutter and having a stager and a de-clutterer on the team might make all the difference in the sale.
Many clients already have an insurance agent that they work with, but consider recommending them to an ‘independent’ insurance agent to compare prices and shop for the best coverage.
Escrow Officer/Title Rep
Mine your network of other realtors to determine who they would recommend as an escrow agent. Find out how many transactions the escrow agent has closed and the variety of loans, trade equities they have handled. A great escrow agent can help you get the deal closed quickly.
General Contractor/Repair People
Find a general contractor and/or repair person you know and would trust to refer your clients to. Ask for referrals and make sure they are good and timely.
As they say, it’s not always what you know but who you know. Having a good network of people on your team to refer clients to will show you are able to help them meet their needs.
